Annandale Crop Walk: October 17, 2009

ACCA held its thirtieth *CROP Walk". The walk was held on trails at Lake Accotink and Wakefield Parks. Registration began at 8:00 a.m. October 17 near the Lake Accotink Marina. The walk raises funds for Church World Services Programs that help fight hunger and poverty around the world, respond to disasters and provide refugee assistance, and supports local efforts to fight hunger and poverty.

As of December 29, 2009 the Annandale CROP Walk had raised a total of $20,534 in cash and check donations, plus $500 in online donations for total of $21,034. ACCA should receive over $5,200.00 from the Church World Services. Walkers, volunteers and donors from 18 ACCA churches supported the walk.

*Why call it "CROP"?

Back in 1969, the Church Rural Overseas Program (CROP) started by having farmers send food overseas. The programs have changed over time, but the CROP name has stayed the same.
